These beautiful sterling silver earrings are 18ct yellow gold plated, and are handmade with love by Atelier Nómada in a small jewellery studio in Fitzroy, Melbourne. All materials are sourced from reputable metal suppliers in Melbourne and Australia. Rest assured that for making these precious pieces, I only use fine quality precious metals.
As usual, my inspiration comes from walks around the city and/or at the beach. My favourite tree is the Ginkgo Biloba behind the Old Arts Building on the University of Melbourne campus. When winter approaches, its leaves turn a bright warm yellow, similar to gold. This inspired me to create a pair of earrings with the end of the leaf dipped in actual gold. The manufacturing process involves sawpiercing into a sterling silver sheet, filing, soldering, polishing, gentle texturing with a hammer, matt finishing, and finally the gold plating.
Specific dimensions – Length: 4cm, Width (Leaf): 1cm
